Travel: New Mexico, A Very Underrated State!

The American Southwest gets a lot of visitors from the Pacific Northwest every year.   The terrain is so dramatic and so different than what we see in Oregon and Washington.   Texas and Arizona draw more visitors than New Mexico does, but after my first visit as an adult to the state, I question that.   New Mexico gives us a lot of reasons to spend time there!  From the Carlsbad Caverns in the south, to the historic capital of Santa Fe, I needed more than just a week to see everything!   I had no idea there were so many mountains, and even spent time at a waterfall in the desert!  New Mexico has a large Native American population and I got to see a dance demonstration put on by Lightning Boys, a non-profit that teaches about their culture through dance and music.  Albuquerque is the largest city in the state, and I loved it.   Traffic isn’t horrible, the downtown is nice, and the food was terrific!   Santa Fe is the capital, and well worth a visit!   It’s historic, and a mecca for art lovers!

Here are some of my pictures of the dramatic beauty of the state, and you can listen to the story here:
