Providence Park To Host Concerts Again Starting August 2024
Portland, Ore. — The Rose City will have a new concert venue next summer as Providence Park plans to resume hosting shows for the first time in nearly two decades, beginning in August 2024.
The announcement was made by the Portland Timbers on Monday morning. The rock band Foo Fighters is set to headline the first concert at the stadium on Friday, August 16, 2024. General admission tickets for this event will be available for purchase starting at 10 a.m. on October 6.
Timbers CEO Heather Davis expressed excitement about the development, emphasizing its significance for fans and the city of Portland. In a news release, Davis stated, “We are proud to continue our investment in the vibrancy of downtown Portland as Providence Park becomes the largest concert venue in the Portland area. Artists who had to bypass Portland on their West Coast tours will have a great new option to consider.”

According to the Timbers, Providence Park has undergone extensive renovations and upgrades, amounting to more than $130 million in the past few years. The stadium’s seating capacity is approximately 30,000 people, surpassing the Moda Center, which has a maximum capacity of 20,000 people.
The historic Providence Park hosted its inaugural concert in 1957 with the legendary singer Elvis Presley. Over the years, it has welcomed numerous notable bands and musicians, including David Bowie in 1987, Johnny Cash in 1992, and Def Leppard in 2005.
