One Killed, Two Offficers Hurt in Springfield Officer-Involved-Shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – One person was killed and two police officers were injured in a shooting in a western Oregon city Sunday night.

The Register-Guard reports that the deceased person has not yet been identified following the shooting in Springfield around 9 p.m.

Police say two officers have been treated at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center for injuries that are not expected to be life threatening. Their names have not been released.

Police say the officers were involved in a short vehicle pursuit before the shooting in the city 110 miles (about 177 kilometers) south of Portland.

The newspaper reports the area was closed to traffic Sunday night and police tape remained in place Monday morning.

Police say the Lane County Interagency Deadly Force Investigation team will oversee the investigation.
