Portland, OR. — A 3-alarm fire torched a commercial building, owned by RJ Templeton, an auto parts warehouse. Dozens of firefighters responded to the burning building at 2700 Southeast Long Street, just south of Holgate, around 9:30 p.m. Friday night. Part of the roof collapsed almost immediately. Fire officials say the nearby fire hydrants weren’t producing enough water, so the city diverted water from other areas to those hydrants so crews could douse the enormous flames. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the east side of the building and prevented the loss of several homes, however there is damage to surrounding homes, properties and cars. By 11 p.m., crews had the fire under control. It’s not clear how it started. No one was inside the building when the fire broke out.
