Accused Bank Robber Arrested At Forest Grove Hotel

UPDATE:  Late yesterday, a community member’s keen eye led to the arrest of a bank robber staying in a hotel in Forest Grove. The community member saw a photo of the bank robber on a local news story and immediately informed deputies.

Officers from the Forest Grove Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Cornelius Police Department responded promptly to the tip-off and apprehended the suspect, 70-year-old Craig Haberman, outside of his hotel room at America’s Best Value Inn & Suites in Forest Grove.

Haberman was transported to the Washington County Jail and lodged on two outstanding warrants, one of which is for an unrelated bank robbery. As of this writing, Haberman remains in custody.

The investigation of yesterday’s bank robbery in Cornelius has been turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Cornelius Police Department expressed their gratitude to the community for their help in apprehending Haberman. It is a testament to the power of public cooperation and a reminder that everyone plays a vital role in keeping our communities safe.

 

CORNELIUS, Ore. –Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking for a bank robbery suspect.  The US Bank on N Adair Street was robbed just after noon Wednesday.  They say a man presented a bank teller with a note and demanded money.  He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies and Hillsboro Police Officers searched the area for the man but could not find him.

He’s described as a white, older male – about 70 years old with white hair and a white beard.  About 5′ 10″ and 180 pounds

Deputies are asking the public for help to contact authorities.
