Thursday Marks Two-Year Anniversary Of First Confirmed Case Of COVID-19 In Multnomah County

PORLTAND, Ore. – Two years ago Thursday, Public Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Vines announced the first case of COVID-19 in Multnomah County, “I can share, I think without disclosing too much, that this is a man…hospitalized at the V.A. hospital”.

Since that announcement, more than 111,000 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and almost 1,100 have died with the virus.

To honor those impacted by the virus, the county Thursday night is holding a moment of silence and then employees will cross the Hawthorne Bridge with flashlights.

The Morrison Bridge will also be lit in blue until Monday in memoriam.

Monday marks the two-year anniversary of the first virus-related death in the county.
