Sheridan, Ore. – Crews have reopened a stretch of Highway 18 near Sheridan following a deadly crash. Police say two people were killed and two others were critically injured in the two-car wreck around 7:30pm last night near Gopher Valley Road. They don’t know yet exactly what caused it. Officials say this is the third fatality near this location in the last six months.

Fire and ems crews from Sheridan, SW Polk, and West Valley responded to a reported 2 car motor vehicle accident.The initial reports were that there were two vehicles that had collided, with 2 known fatalities and 2 critically injured persons. Sheridan, SW Polk, and West Valley Fire Department crews assisted with patient care and transportation of the critically injured. The remainder of the crews assisted with area cleanup and traffic control. The current traffic situation has all vehicles being diverted to Gopher Valley Road off of HWY 18, please use caution when traveling in this vicinity.
