Portland, Or. – Portlander David Loftus has written City Hall and the Portland Bureau of Transportation to complain about the  complaint forms for E-scooters. He says they require a scooter ID number and says that’s hard to get if you’re reporting a moving violation and he says he’s seen a lot of them; “more than one person on a scooter, under age kids. You’re not supposed to have anybody under 16 or 17. I’ve seen those. You see them running red lights. You see them operating on the sidewalk.” He claims the complaint forms will skew data results.

John Brady with PBOT says “in terms of the specific issue he raises about the scooter ID number, we have heard a similar concern from other Portlanders. For this reason, we changed the form. We now no longer require the ID number. Instead it is optional. We still would like people to provide the number if they can because it is helpful information to have, but it is no longer required to make a report.”
