Portland City Hall Evacuated For Hours Monday Bomb Scare

PORTLAND, Ore.–Employees and other staff were told to evacuate the building at around 9:30 Monday morning.  A package was found in the building .  Portland police would not describe it. This is the second time a threat against city hall has been made in the last two weeks.   Portland Police Lt Tina Jones says they’re not releasing any more information about the package, it’s contents or how it ended up at City Hall. She says they’re trying to avoid a copycat incident and are still trying to determine if its placement was a criminal act.

Employees spent hours across the street in a park in lobbies of nearby buildings and local coffee shops waiting to return to work.  The bomb squad was called in with the assistance of other police agencies to take care of the package.
