Barton, Or. – A peacock was hit by a pick up truck in Barton over the weekend and survived. Clackamas County Sgt. Marcus Mendoza says a deputy stopped by the Barton Store on Highway 224 to talk with some motorcyclists. He was flagged down by a driver who said she had hit a peacock and it was stuck in her vehicle’s grill guard and she needed help to get it out.

Mendoza says “they actually were trying to come up with a plan when the peacock just fluttered and got itself out of the grill and the deputy told me the peacock just walked away like nothing happened.”

He says the deputy told him there is a property in the area that has peacocks and he plans to check in with the owner to see how the bird is doing.
