Portland, Or. – A fast moving, three alarm fire gutted a four-plex in NE Portland early today. Ten people had to scramble to safety. Two of them  were hospitalized after jumping from a third story window. They also threw their puppy out the window. A firefighter found the dog wandering around and reunited it with the owners.

23 year old McKenzie Miller was asleep in the basement, heard a lot of noise and  noticed his window was very bright.”I’m like looking out the window and it’s just bright and I’m in shock for a second, like is this really happening here. I hear a bunch of chaos going on upstairs.”

He says he just moved in and paid his rent two days ago. He says all his cash and belongings are gone. He says his car was parked out front and is totaled. He says the fire doesn’t make sense and says no one there had a beef with anyone.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause.
