HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A man has been convicted on several charges related to the sexual assault of a woman at knifepoint in her Hillsboro apartment.

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office says a jury on Friday found 21-year-old Gabriel Moscote-Saavedra guilty of attempted rape, burglary and three counts of first-degree sex abuse.

On December 2, prosecutors say Moscote-Saavedra broke into the woman’s apartment in a building where he was also a resident.

A woman called 911 at about 2:30 a.m. to report that someone had broken in, held her at knifepoint, and sexually assaulted her.

Police arrested Moscote-Saavedra more than two weeks later.

Investigators found his fingerprints on her window, and later prosecutors say he admitted to sexually assaulting her during an interview with detectives.

He remains in custody with sentencing set for Sept. 9.
