Long Time Blazer Fan Thinks Portland Has Edge Over Denver
Portland, Or. – A Portland man whose been a Portland Trailblazer fan since the team began thinks Portland has an advantage over Denver in their Round Two NBA play off series. Vince Powell says Portland has more play off experience than Denver.
Vince Powell owns Powell Motors in NE Portland. But when the Trailblazers first began, he was a freshman basketball coach at Pacific University, where the Blazers practiced and Powell says he watched their very first work out. He got free tickets through the school that first season, became a season ticket holder the second season and has been one ever since. He encouraged his Dad to become a season ticket holder too.
His office is full of Trailblazer memorabilia including a basketball signed by three generations of his family who attended a game together four years ago.
He thinks the Blazers have advanced so far this season because ” I just think they have a college type approach. They’re so close to each other. I think they have a great culture and they all pull for each other. ” He says they don’t have a bunch of egos.
