Firefighters Battle Garage Fire In Lebanon

Lebanon, OR – Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire in the early hours of Friday morning in the area of Porter Street in Lebanon, Oregon. Upon arrival, the Incident Commander found a 20×30 detached garage with heavy fire exiting the building. The firefighters had to navigate through numerous abandoned vehicles and discarded belongings on the property to reach the fire.

The Incident Commander declared the mode of operation as defensive due to the condition of the structure, and the firefighters quickly trained their hoses and began to extinguish the fire. The firefighters had the fire completely out in little over an hour but remained on the scene to access hotspots. However, they were hampered by the building being full of pianos and belongings.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The firefighters were assisted at the scene by Linn County Sheriff’s office and PP&L, and the Albany Fire Department was also on hand to protect citizens while firefighters were busy.

The Lebanon Fire District responded to the scene with 1 truck company, 2 engines, 1 ALS medic unit, 1 pumper-tender, 1 heavy rescue, and a rehab unit for firefighters, as well as 4 staff officers. Firefighters cleared the scene just before 4 a.m. after all mop-up was complete.
