FORKS, Wash. (AP) – Authorities say an inmate who escaped from Olympic Corrections Center near Forks has been captured less than two miles away from the facility.

KOMO reports 60-year-old Mark David Vannausdle was apprehended without incident at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday.

Vannausdle escaped from the minimum-security prison at about 7 a.m. Sunday as he was making his way from his living quarters to the facility’s dining hall.

He was serving a 20-year sentence for assault and robbery charges out of Pierce County. He was tentatively set to be released in 2021.
