Charter Review Commission Report Out End of March

PORTLAND, Ore– Every 10 years the charter for the city of Portland is reviewed and amendments are made.  A volunteer Charter Review Commission has been looking into what would make the city run more efficiently. The city council and Mayor form of government is considered antiquated. Portland is one of the few remaining cities to operate under his form of government.

One early finding is that commissioners should not be running and managing bureaus.  There will be others before a final report comes out at the end of March.  The public can participate in a series of meetings.  Eventually the citizens of Portland will be able to vote on any proposed changes.
