2 Boys Arrested in Connection with Threat About Cascade Junior High School
A junior high school had extra law enforcement on hand this morning, after deputies made two arrests of children in connection with a threat in Marion County.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department says deputies arrested 11 and 12 year old boys on Sunday. This came after a person reported that a student sent a text message, threatening to take a gun to Cascade Junior High School. Deputies took one boy to the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. They released the second child to his parents, with a safety plan for both. There were no guns found in the juveniles’ possession. Both children face charges of disorderly conduct.
The sheriff’s department is using this example to encourage children and parents to use the Safe Oregon website and app, which allow people to confidentially report threats. The website offers step by step instructions, like reporting “Who was causing harm or talking about causing harm?”
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says Aumsville Police told them about a tip that a student had threatened to take a gun to the junior high school. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office worked with officials from the Cascade School District to identify the students and determine the source of the threat.
