PORTLAND, Ore. – Police responded to Madison High School in Portland Thursday after it was reported a student was seen with a gun in his waistband.

Officers found the student in the school and took him into custody.

They recovered a realistic replica handgun that he was hiding underneath his clothing.

The student was questioned and ultimately released to his parents.

On Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11:49 a.m., Officers responded to Madison High School (Marshall Campus) located at 3905 Southeast 91st Avenue on a report of a student that was seen with a gun concealed in his waistband.

Officers arrived in the area during lunch and began to search for the student. School Resource Officers located the student inside the school and the student was safely taken into custody. Officers recovered a realistic replica handgun that was concealed underneath the students clothing.

The student was questioned by officers and released to his parents. The identity of the student will not be released due to his age.

At this time, we do not believe there is an ongoing danger to the school community. Anyone with information about weapons in schools should immediately call 9-11.
