Hikers Rescued from Woods West of Mount Hood

After wandering, lost in the woods for thirty hours, a group of local hikers is home and safe.

A Clackamas County search and rescue team found the hikers, who got lost in the woods near Ramona Falls. That’s west of Mount Hood.

According to the Clackamas County sheriff’s office, the hikers were all in their 20s. They went on a hike Sunday and ended up on the wrong trail after reading some bad information from the internet. After trying to fight their way through downed trees, they set up a campsite and spent the night.

Luckily a search and rescue crew discovered the hikers’ car at a trailhead Monday. 20 volunteers went out to rescue them. They had to take one out on a stretcher. Clackamas Search and Rescue reminds all hikers, that they need to be ready for the unexpected, which means, bring overnight supplies, including food and water, and GPS devices. They say it’s always best to check in with a ranger station before heading out into the wilderness.
