Woman Rescued From North Portland Fire

PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman was rescued from a burning home in North Portland early Thursday morning.

A three-story home on North Flint Avenue near Russell caught fire just before 1:30am.

Neighbors and police tried to help the woman down, but it was too far for her to jump.  Firefighters used a ladder to help her to safety.  She was treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters went through the home twice to make sure nobody was inside.  Thick black smoke and clutter made it challenging for those crews.  Five other people who live there were accounted for.

The fire spread into the attic and burned through the roof.  There’s no word yet on the cause.
