Woman Killed by MAX Train

PORTLAND, Ore. —  A young woman was killed when she walked in front of a MAX train in Southeast Portland.  Police have not released her name yet.  The crash happened around 4 PM near Bybee and Southeast 23rd.  The Orange line train could not stop in time to avoid the woman.  The driver tried to stop.

Police say the woman ran out onto the tracks in a restricted area between two MAX Platforms. A KXL Listener called us this morning.  He was on board  that train.  He explained he and other passengers  really think this was a teenager and she walked out in front of the MAX on purpose.

He said, “I’m Still shaken up.”  “I feel bad for the driver he was beside himself.”  The crash remains under investigation.
