UPDATE: A cougar was shot and killed by a landowner Thursday night. It’s believed to be the same animal that killed two goats. Angel’s Rest Trailhead has been reopened.
PORTLAND, Ore. – Wildlife officials are searching for a cougar that killed two goats near Angel’s Rest Trailhead.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says a day before the goats were attacked, a cougar entered a home in the area and showed little fear of humans.
After the goats were attacked, it was decided the cougar should be caught and removed. A Sheriff’s Deputy located it Wednesday night and fired a shot, but missed.
The cougar ran off.
A live trap has been set up to capture the animal.
