This image provided by NASA on Monday, July 11, 2022, shows galaxy cluster SMACS 0723, captured by the James Webb Space Telescope. The telescope is designed to peer back so far that scientists can get a glimpse of the dawn of the universe about 13.7 billion years ago and zoom in on closer cosmic objects, even our own solar system, with sharper focus. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel the universe? How would Saturn’s rings look from a spaceship sailing just above them? If you were falling into a black hole, what’s the last thing you’d see before getting spaghettified? Renowned astronomer and science communicator, Philip Plait, will be at the Alberta Rose Theatre on Wednesday, May 24th at 7pm to help answer those questions. He will be taking the audience on a tour of extra-terrestrial planets and what they would actually see.
The program is called Science On Tap, where they host monthly science events geared towards adults with food and drinks available.
For more information on this event and other monthly events head to Science On Tap.
