Two Dead In Portland Weekend Shootings

PORTLAND, Ore. — Two people were shot and killed over the weekend, bringing the city’s homicide total for the year to 32.

A man was shot around 1:15 on the morning of April 23rd at Southeast 136th and Powell Boulevard.  He’s identified as 52-year-old Jose Castaneda.

The second shooting at Southeast 9th and Ash around 1:15 on the morning of April 24th sent a man by private vehicle to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.  He has been identified as 30-year-old Nycole Griffin.

33-year-old Nathaniel Freeman was arrested for Griffin’s murder.  Castaneda’s killer is still wanted.
