BATTLEGROUND, Wash. — An actual tornado touched down in Battleground Thursday just before noon.
Neighbors tells KXL, they were in buildings that were torn up. Jacob was in his house and says:
“Was uh, just hanging’ out heard and the rain and hail and stuff, and was like that seems pretty odd! I happened to take a look outside my back door and saw clouds starting to spin and saw the uplift in the back and I saw what looked like debris. So, I went upstairs and took a better look and I see a bunch of tree branches and stuff start falling right out my back door. And, as I started heading downstairs I saw a bright flash and went and looked outside and saw a column of debris in the cul-de-sac and the start of a funnel cloud.”
The National Weather Service confirmed to KXL on Portland’s Afternoon News just after 5:30 p.m. that a tornado had in fact been recorded.
The NWS is continuing to assess damage.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Several homes and two commercial buildings were evacuated.
Anyone who needs to report damage from the storm was asked to call 360-992-8000.
