Tom Peterson, Legendary Portland Salesman, Dies

PORTLAND, Ore.–His family has confirmed that Parkinson’s Disease on Monday claimed the life of legendary Portland pitchman Tom Peterson.

Well known for his catchy commercials and distinct haircut, Peterson had been suffering from the disease for the past 24 years.

Peterson also made a name for himself on the big screen, making three cameo appearances in the films of Gus Van Sant. In fact, as of 1995, he had appeared in more Van Sant films than any other actor.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria, his daughter Kathy, two granddaughters, and a great granddaughter. He was 86 years old.
