It’s a figure that’s staggering and just recently brought to my attention from Jim Redden in the Portland Tribune. Twenty veterans commit suicide each day. Nineteen have never gotten any help. Mike Burton is a former Portland area politician, public official, PSU Vice Provost and veteran of the Vietnam war. His life made an abrupt turn in the public eye several years ago. Now, he is now 78, and committing his life to helping veterans. It’s one of the many veterans’stories being featured on the Portland Tribune.
Here’s our radio interview with Jim:
Personally, I’d like to say thanks to all the veterans out there. It may seem to be overlooked day to day, but your service is not lost on me. To all the men and women in the hallways at work, at the grocery store, next door, or just listening to us on KXL, thank you so much.
