Suspect In Court Today; Vigil Held For Salem Mom and Son
Salem, Oregon -The man police believe is responsible for the disappearance of a Salem mother and her 3 year old son will be back in court this afternoon. Michael Wolfe was arrested Friday and is being charged with two counts of aggravated murder and kidnapping. Karissa Fretwell, 25, and her 3-year-old son, William have not been seen since May 13. Salem Police Lt. Treven Upkes says they are still hoping the two will be found alive despite the murder and kidnapping charges against Wolfe. The charges could be changed based of future evidence. According to court records Wolfe is William’s father and he was recently ordered to pay $900 a month in child support. Investigators have been looking for Karissa and William on two properties in rural Yamhill County.
Family and friends are praying for their safe return. A candlelight vigil held on Monday comes as the boy’s father, Michael Wolfe, gets set to make his first court appearance today. Megan Haper…a good friend of Karissa’s tells Newspartner KGW she suspected the 52-year-old from the start. Harper says Wolfe and Fretwell had been fighting over custody and child support issues. He’s facing kidnapping and aggravated murder charges, although no bodies have been found yet.
