CORVALLIS, Ore. – Police say they arrested a 22-year-old man who opened fire with a handgun in a corndog manufacturing plant in Corvallis, Oregon, before surrendering to police.

There were no injuries. Corvallis Police Capt. Nick Hurley told reporters that the suspect, Adrian Nickerson, was a temporary employee at the plant. Authorities say he fired a single shot Thursday morning in a woman’s restroom within the Foster Farms processing plant.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney.

Nearby businesses were placed on lockdown for nearly four hours and authorities advised people to avoid the area.

The possible shooting situation in Corvallis is still ongoing at this hour. Benton County Undersheriff Greg Ridler says the suspect is still on the loose. The suspect is believed to be contained to an area and police working to take him into custody. There are no reported casualties. Foster Farms released the following statement:

At approximately 8:30 a.m. PDT, Foster Farms became aware of a potential active shooter at its
Corvallis, Oregon, facility. Foster Farms prepares for emergencies of this nature, and all employees were
promptly evacuated without injury. Authorities were immediately alerted, contained the site and
apprehended an individual. The safety of our employees is our highest priority and Foster Farms will
provide counseling and support services to its Corvallis employees. We are thankful this incident was
concluded without harm to our employees or the greater community. We greatly appreciate local law
enforcement’s professionalism in quickly resolving the situation.
