Shooting simulators are showing the life and death decisions police make when using deadly force are more challenging than expected.

Lars brings on Tung Yin, a Lewis and Clark law school professor, to discuss the controversial topic of deadly force and when it’s justifiable for officers to use it. Yin was able to participate in a simulator that presented multiple scenarios he found to be extremely challenging.   According to Yin and the law on constitutional use of deadly force, “Such force may not be used unless it is necessary to prevent the escape [of an unarmed felon] and the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others.” Listen below for more.
