Seattle City Council Approves Spending Cuts For Police

The Seattle City Council just approved a complex budget package to cut spending for the Seattle Police department.

The vote was 7-1; Council member **Kshama Sawant (SHAW-mah suh-VAUNT) was the only dissenting vote.

The Measures considered today would cut about $3 million of the department’s $400 million annual budget this year.

The reductions have to be voted on again.

BLM Demonstrators have called for a 50 percent CUT to police funding.
