Portland, Ore. – Portland’s Lan Su Chinese Garden is searching for a new Executive Director. The previous director Lisa James stepped down last week. The garden’s Board of Directors is launching a regional search for her replacement. Current Program director Gary Wilson will lead daily operations until a new person is found.

October 30, 2019 – Portland, Ore. – The Executive Director of Lan Su Chinese Garden, Lisa James, has left the Garden as of Friday, October 25, 2019. The Lan Su Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and community wish her the best of success in her future endeavors.

The Board of Directors is launching a regional search for a replacement Executive Director and announced that, in the interim, daily operations of the Garden will be led by Gary Wilson, the current Program Director and a long-term veteran of the Chinese Garden Staff. The Board emphasizes its complete confidence in Mr. Wilson’s leadership and the Lan Su team during this time of transition.

The Board would also like to recognize the staff and volunteers of the Garden, for their outstanding ongoing work in support of the mission, vision, and values of Lan Su Chinese Garden. The Board will work closely with Mr. Wilson, the team, and the volunteer community to ensure Lan Su continues as the leading Chinese Garden in North America dedicated to providing a rich and immersive experience to all its visitors and remains a shining beacon of the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood.
