Saving Furry Friends: One Tail at a Time!
A group of volunteers from Portland are returning this week with a bunch of new furry friends! The group One Tail at a Time has been working with organizations in West Texas for the past several years to bring animals in need back to Oregon because this is a very pet-friendly state. One Tail at a Time is foster-based. They brought back 32 dogs during this recent trip. Texas has an overcrowding problem in shelters, plus many areas are so rural there aren’t veterinarians nearby.

Dogs are not put in shelters, they are placed with foster families who will keep them until a forever home is found for them. They are also given high-quality veterinary care from one of two veterinary partners, Wildwood and Brooklyn Yard. All animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and tested for Heartworm. After dogs have been medically cleared for adoption, they are placed in their forever homes through our adoption program. Adoption Counselors work with fosters to make sure they have all the supplies, training, and support needed to care for a dog.
Volunteers are always needed. You can find out more about that here.
