Sale Of Alpenrose Dairy Back On

Portland, Or. -Smith Brothers Farms in Kent, Washington will buy Portland’s Alpenrose Dairy. Alpenrose President Rod Birkland  tells Oregonlive the deal could close in 30 days, but won’t say what the price tag is. The founder’s great-great grandchildren had filed lawsuit earlier this year to block a sale that included the land as well as the 100 year old dairy. The new sale is for the dairy only. The 150 people who work there will have to reapply for their jobs.

Birkland says they expect to open  their three baseball diamonds for next season, but  couldn’t guarantee what happens after that. He also said if they can’t find another insurance provider, then there may not be a next season.
