Portland Street Response Team Expands Citywide

PORTLAND, Ore. — More than a year after launching as a pilot project in the Lents neighborhood, Portland Street Response is expanding citywide.  Officials announced on Monday morning that the team will expand to 20 full-time staff members working from 8am to 10pm seven days a week.

The team responds unarmed to calls of non-life threatening behavioral and mental health crises.

The city hopes to find funding to fully staff Portland Street Response 24-7 with as many as 58 members by 2023.

PSR’s boundary increased from the original 13 square miles to 36 square miles this past November to 145 square miles now across the entire city.
