Portland, Or. –  Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler says he will seek a second term. He tells the Portland Tribune in an exclusive interview ” I am not going to officially announce until after Labor Day. It’s a little early for that right now. But I don’t want to walk away from this job right  now. I have great confidence in what I’m doing and how I’m doing it and what my administration has prioritized.” He says it hasn’t always been fun, but its been very meaningful.

Wheeler says the  the recent turn over in Portland mayors has hurt the city. The last mayor to serve more than one term was Vera Katz. He says “we need some consistency in leadership.”
