Portland Man Found Guilty On Five Counts In Carjacking Case

Portland, Ore. — A 12-person jury has found Gregory Eyler, 29, guilty on five counts related to a carjacking incident that occurred in the Delta Park area on October 26, 2021. The counts include robbery in the first degree, robbery in the second degree, assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers responded to a report of a carjacking in the Delta Park area on October 26, 2021. The victim, who was houseless, was at the side of her vehicle when an accomplice threw her to the ground and got in the driver’s seat. Eyler then entered through the passenger side and lunged at the victim, telling her to get out. Eyler proceeded to stab the victim multiple times in the arm, and the accomplice began to drive away. The victim sustained severe injuries while attempting to hold onto the steering wheel.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office expressed gratitude to the Portland Police Bureau for their collaboration in helping to serve this member of a vulnerable population. The MCDA is committed to seeking equitable outcomes in the pursuit of justice, regardless of the victim’s circumstances.

Sentencing for Eyler will be scheduled at a later date.
