Police Seize 15,000 Marijuana Plants, Weapons in Southern Oregon

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say they disrupted a marijuana trafficking operation with the arrest of a man and the seizure of almost 15,000 pot plants, over a half-million dollars in cash and 29 firearms, including two automatic weapons and several semi-automatic assault rifles.

Law enforcement officers from more than a half-dozen agencies were involved in the April 11 bust in a rural area of Medford.

The state police said Thursday the indoor grow was not licensed. The statement said Gregory Martin Day of North Carolina was arrested at the site and jailed on drug and weapons-related charges.

Investigators removed and destroyed 14,497 marijuana plants weighing 1,900 pounds. The police said the approximate street value if the pot was processed was estimated at $15 million dollars.

Law enforcement from Illinois and Kansas were also involved in the bust.
