Police: Former Candidate Broke Bongs, Bit Guard

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) – A former Washington state political candidate has been charged with biting a security guard and breaking bongs at a marijuana shop.

The News Tribune reports 49-year-old Robert Jesse Hill pleaded not guilty Wednesday to second-degree assault, first-degree malicious mischief, felony harassment, and second-degree burglary.

Hill has run unsuccessfully for various elected offices and attended public meetings dressed in costumes and carrying provocative signs.

Authorities say Hill and a guard at a Tacoma marijuana store struggled after the guard asked him to leave.

Police say Hill bit a chunk of flesh from the guard’s forearm and kicked and threatened to kill him.

Police say Hill also shattered glass cases and damaged 50 custom water pipes, causing about $13,000 in damage.

Records indicate Hill is seeking to represent himself in court.
