Portland, Oregon – The accused gunman at Parkrose High School made his first court appearance Monday. Angel Diaz is accused of bringing a loaded shotgun into a classroom and trying to fire it. Police now say the gun had only one shell in inside. Court records don’t offer a motive for the incident. Diaz has no previous criminal record. Parkrose students returned to class Monday. Parkrose is holding a meeting for parents tonight at 6pm in the school’s auditorium, offering tips to help parents talk to their kids about what happened.

Meanwhile we’re hearing more from the coach who stopped the student with the gun. Parkrose Coach, and former Oregon Ducks player Keanon Lowe is now talking about it.
It was a normal Friday, Coach Lowe working security, and he was headed down to the Fine Arts Building to grab a student. But what happened, was anything but ordinary.
Coach Lowe says there is no easy answer to the gun debate, but that both sides of the issue need to acknowledge that there is indeed a problem, then we can look for the solution.
