Oregon’s Bonamici Reacts to New Congressional District

Because of Oregon’s growing population, the state’s picking up an extra seat in Congress.  That means some big changes, in who will represent Oregonians.

Instead of five, there will be six Oregonians in Congress. And overall, that’s positive for the state, especially as it’s dealing with tough issues, according to Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici.  She says, “It’s great to have another voice.  For Oregon to have 6 rather than 5 representatives.  And I think about all the things that we’ve done, together as a delegation, whether it be reaching out for support when there’s wildfires, or when we needed ventilators early in the pandemic.”

The newly redrawn maps will change who she is, and is not representing:

“No longer representing Southern Washington County and Yamhill County. But I’ll be representing, if I’m honored with reelection, Tillamook County and more of Portland.  And so I look forward to getting to know the new district and working with whoever my new colleague is.”
