Oregon State Senator Reacts to Time Change Senate Bill

An Oregon State Senator welcomes the chance, to never change clocks again.

District 13 State Senator Kim Thatcher, sponsored Oregon’s time change bill in 2019.  So when we caught up with her about the U.S. Senate approving a bill to make daylight saving time permanent, she said, “Wow, that one snuck up on me.”

Thatcher says Oregonians have pushed her for a change like this for a long time.   But the efforts ran into trouble when other states along the west coast could not agree on exactly how to do it.

The U.S. Senate’s newly passed bipartisan bill called the Sunshine Protection Act, would still need approval from the House and the President’s signature, before it could ensure that Americans would not longer have to change their clocks twice a year.
