Oregon State Capitol Computers Down Over The Weekend

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Officials say computer systems at the Oregon State Capitol were down over the weekend after a generator malfunction during equipment testing.

The Statesman Journal reports it happened when workers at the capitol were switching from a temporary power source used during construction work to a permanent power source and testing equipment – including the generator, according to Capitol Accessibility, Maintenance and Safety project director Jodie Jones.

When the generator malfunctioned, the computer server room also shut down. The Oregon State Legislature site was down. Capitol employees could still access their emails, but could not access files on the server.

Jones says there was no breach of public data during the process.

The power outage lasted from 4 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Sunday.
