Oregon Lawmaker Writes Governor Brown Over Short Trip On Private Jet

Sunriver, Ore. – Governor Kate Brown has advocated for carbon tax plans that will cost the average Oregon family hundreds of dollars a year in extra energy costs, in an effort to limit pollution and climate change. The last legislature failed to pass a Cap and Trade Bill after GOP Reps. walked and fled the state to stop a vote. Brown says she will push for the carbon tax again in the next session. In the middle of all that, Brown took a private jet to fly from Salem to Central Oregon to give a one hour speech. Oregon Rep. Jack Zika points out that she was willing to burn hundreds of gallons of fuel to make a trip that most folks would do in a car for a few gallons of gasoline. Rep. Zika wrote Brown a letter suggesting that the Governor is a hypocrite to tell the rest of us to cut our carbon footprint, even threatening new taxes as a way to force less use of fuel.
