Vancouver Police Arrest Suspect in Halloween Night Shooting at Vancouver Mall

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Vancouver police have arrested a man in connection with the Halloween night shooting at Vancouver Mall that left one person dead and two others injured.

Police took Travis L. Ward, 32, into custody Saturday around 6:17 p.m. after locating him at a residence on SE 18th Circle in Vancouver. Ward surrendered peacefully when officers, including members of the SWAT team, arrived at the scene. Detectives questioned him before he was booked into the Clark County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault.

Police initially responded to a reported disturbance at Vancouver Mall on Halloween before confirming that a shooting had taken place.

The Vancouver Police Department credited community members for their assistance, saying that most of the tips leading to Ward’s arrest were submitted through Facebook. Detectives also identified two women seen in a Crime Stoppers release; both cooperated fully and are not considered suspects or persons of interest.
