St Helens, Or. –  The Oregon Health Authority has sent the case involving a 16 year old St Helens boy to the Centers For Disease Control for further consideration. It could take several weeks to get results. The goal is to decide whether Paul Lewis died from bacterial meningitis. He showed symptoms Sunday and died Monday.

The Columbia County Health Department has determined 47 people had close contact with him and 30 have started on antibiotics. Lewis was a junior at St. Helens High school and on the wrestling team.
