PORTLAND, Ore– Hospitals in Oregon say they are better prepared for an influx of patients dealing with the Coronavirus if necessary. They have more room for them, more PPE’s and ventilators.  The CDC has mandated that states know how they will distribute a vaccine once it’s available.  Projections indicate about 45 million doses could be ready by the end of the year.

Oregon and Washington have a shared vision for distribution. In Phase I: Healthcare workers will receive the vaccine first. Then essential workers and High Risk groups including those over 65.

Phase II: Highly affected communities, both racial and minorities, homeless and prisoners

It’s anticipated that initially 45 million doses of the vaccine could be available by the end of the year.
