No Sitting For The Bench-Warmers

They decided to take a stand. Literally.

On the sixteenth anniversary of 9/11, players in the NFL decided it wouldn’t be a very good idea to be bench warmers. All members of the four teams that played on the anniversary were reportedly standing. One player even came out carrying an American flag. But that certainly wasn’t the case last year when Colin Kaepernick lead the way in sideline-sitting.

So what made players change their attitude this year? It seems that the political sea may have shifted and players are beginning to realize much of their success hinges on your support. Many people last year tuned out of the NFL, it’s believed in large part because of Kaepernick’s attitude towards the national anthem.

Have we turned a corner with the respect we show to our veterans and the national anthem? Or is the conversation just getting started?
