Tillamook County, Ore. – The dangers of rip currents are being pointed out again after a 38-year old Vancouver man drown at Nehalem Bay State Park. Volodymyr Kravchenko was swimming in the surf Friday night with two other people. All three were swept out to sea. A sheriffs spokesman tells Oregonlive, two of them made it back, the other one did not. Experts say, if you are caught in a rip tide or rip current., don’t try to swim against the tide. Instead, swim parallel to the shore line until you are able to get out of the current.
