PORTLAND, Ore. – Multnomah County is believed to have hit the peak of the latest surge of COVID-19, “We expect the trend in Multnomah County to be similar to jurisdictions that have been a couple of weeks ahead of us, in terms of a steep dramatic climb and then, hopefully, a steep dramatic drop off. And there have been some indicators that we’re at our bumpy peak. There is reason to believe we’ll see a steep drop off.”

Public Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Vines says the news is welcome, “Pretty incredible peak of 27 percent of tests positive.”

And she does not expect the new variant to slow down the county’s progress, “There’s been some nervous questions to me about the B.A.2 variant of omicron. There’s no reason to think that that’s going to prolong the recovery.”
